Suffering Wounds Again

Poor Jojo.. he's now having very bad wounds again. It must be so painful that I was told by my maid that he had difficultly walking when he got up in the morning.

It seems that Jojo does have bad skin problem and has been having open wounds constantly. Once it got quite serious that the vet decided to let him and even Jelly wear the E-Collars so they wont lick the wounds and the wounds would heal faster.

This time, one of the wounds on the left back leg got pretty bad, it was like a 50 sen coin and it was not just raw pink but as if the bone was visible. I immediately called the vet and asked him to come over to see Jojo.

Thank God that it was not as serious as I imagined. The Vet said it would be worse if there were (God forbid) maggots! I had thought Jojo might need to be hospitalised or be operated on. The vet said all he needs antibiotic and also a more effective spray.

This time, he gave Jojo a type that is blue in colour! And it has quite a strong smell.

It seems the vet himself is not sure what exactly was the reason for his wounds, except saying that it's caused by bacteria and easily worsen due to licking and contammination.

Poor Jojo. I hope and pray this terrible skin problem will soon leave him forever...

Maybe he and Jelly play bite hence he gets the wounds?

Doesn't sound too good though and you may want to observe him a bit to see what causes it. Could also be the food you're feeding him - he is allergic hence he is itchy and then he grooms them till it becomes wounds?

yeah, i know. :( thanks for the concern. but the lamb formula food he has been taking since pup days and supposed to be good for his skin! i think jelly's licking probably aggrevate the wounds too..

hmm..guess i need to seek `second opinion' (since my vet doesnt seem to know the cause)

Most people whose dogs have skin problems switch to vegetarian or holistic food so you may want to check on that too. Yeah, don't trust the vets, most of them have differing opinions.
