Another Crime Alert!!

I became the victim of another crime just four months after that `bag snatch' incident! But thank God it's not as bad as it could have been!!

I was driving home after meeting up with a friend for drink and dessert in Cheras - taking that more `logical' toll-free way via Alam Damai home. It was just past 10pm. I stopped at the traffic light junction and noticed there was a motorcycle which headlamp was not on riding at the left side of me and stopped just behind. If I was not mistaken, it was a guy rider with a girl passenger. I didn't really pay much attention to it. There were at least 5-6 cars in front of me at the traffic light.

Then just a couple of second after I stopped, that motorcycle rode up to my left and then the rider, a young Malay guy, started hitting my passenger seat window with some hard object (which i couldn't tell what it was) When the first impact came, I thought he was some kind of a road bully! Then he hit a few times more, very hard, and the window began to `crack' - disintegrating but the glass did not break. It happened so fast and I suddenly realise he was trying to get my handbag on the passenger seat. I quickly grabbed it and then honked loudly. By that time, he had hit the window at least 7-8 times and since it didn't break, he gave up and then sped off!! I couldn't do anything as I was stuck at the traffic - which by then the light had turned green and I could move.. but the motorcyclist had already disappeared!!

The motorist in front of me must have witnessed what happened and slowed down and wound down her window to talk to me.. we got honked by the cars behind. It was a Malay woman and she asked whether I saw the number plate. I didn't and unfortunately she said she didn't as well but she advised me still to make a police report. I drove on with that shattering window and called home and related briefly to my dad what happened and asked him to accompany me to the police station. Noticing that window had a gap at the top, I tried to close it but the moment I pressed the remote, the whole glass fell off inwards!! Argh!! I became extra cautious and thankfully I didn't have to stop at any more traffic light.

Besides mild shocked after what happened, my reaction was that of anger more than feeling scared! I mean, what is our society coming to? Can't people work for a proper living rather than doing immoral, illegal stuff? Have they any conscience?

Thankfully the drive home was another five minutes or so and then dad took over the wheels - I sat at the back and we drove to the police station which happened to be just 200 meters away from the `crime scene'! We spent the next 40 mins or more reporting and waiting to take statement on the phone with the sargent. I took photos with my camera that was in my bag. Here is how it looked like:

Since I couldn't see the motorcycle's model nor the plate number, I know its almost impossible to arrest the culprit. But both my dad and I wanted to report to alert the police of such crime committed just at their backyard!

To think of it, it was really fortunate that my shattered-proof glass has protected me and my bag. I would have been so upset if my bag was taken for this time, I have some RM300 cash (besides the important documents) in my wallet, my beloved camera and the iPod touch my niece gave me! And nothing untoward happened to me. I really thank God for the protection..

But the troublesome thing is I had to get the window fixed - unsure if Nissan has ready stock or not, and then claim insurance etc.. It kinda put a damper to my mood - as tomorrow, or rather today, I would be going for a short holiday to the seaside with my parents.. for some relaxing and recharging.

Oh well, now that the incident had occured, I guess it's also timely that I can get away and just put this behind my mind for a while..

A huge rat, a brave Sri and two savage Js!

There was a commotion in my house this afternoon where there were lots of screaming!!

When dad and I reached home, I noticed Jojo was kinda unusual. He was in his houes, staring at something at the side. As soon as the gate closed, my maid Wati let Jojo out and then everything just happened so fast!

Jojo dashed into the kitchen and then I heard Wati screamed `binatang (animal)! binatang!' and then as I went into the kitchen, I saw both Jojo and Jelly beseiging a corner where some boxes and wooden stairs were. Wati was pointing there and said there was an animal that looked like a rat and Jojo had attacked it!

With heart pounding, I bent down to take a peep (from quite a distance of course). And I saw it! To be precise, I saw its tail. It was black and flurry and long - what else could it be but a huge rat! So I told dad and mom who were also getting excited, but dad said how could there be a rat, maybe it was a squirrel. But I swore I could tell the difference between a rat's tail and a squirrel's!

Then I think the `thing' moved and suddenly my two dogs barged into the toilet nearby.. refusing to move. I quickly went out of the kitchen `just in case' and sure enough, I saw Wati screamed and jumped onto the stove table! I screamed and jumped back further. So did mom! And dad was even further away as he is scared of rats! Wati said the rat dashed out and then back into the toilet!!

None of us dared to go close to see what Jojo and Jelly are doing to the `poor' rat. Until our `saviour' arrived in the form of our new maid Sri. This daring woman said she is not afraid of rat and to prove her words, she went into the toilet to want to catch the rat! But she had some difficulty because Jojo and Jelly were in her way!

We all retreated to the dry kitchen. And after she shooed Jojo out and we held on to him, a while later, she triumphantly announced that she got the rat. My gosh! I couldn't believe she used her bare hand saved with a piece of paper to catch it - holding it by the tail. And then she announced that the rat had died already!

Even though she had said that, but the fact that she was holding onto a huge dead rat, the screamings were still on! Dad shouted out loud to ask her to take a plastic bag to throw the rat in and dispose of it.. but before she did, I also played brave and used my zoom lense to take this photo.

I would have liked to take photos of how the two Js' tortured and kill the rat but firstly, it happened so fast, and 2ndly and more importantly, I wouldn't dare to!!

Oh, after the rat was disposed of, Sri related to me her `battle' with the dogs and the rat. She said the rat was still half alive when she went to it and when she caught it, Jelly bit on the rat and refused to let go of it and there was a tug-of-war between Sri and Jelly with the rat - which finally succumbed to the ferocious torture by my dogs. And then eye-witness number 1 Wati said Jojo was the first to sink his teetch into the rat's body which caused it to be half dead (that's why can remain in the toilet so long I guess..)

Look at the innocent faces of my`angelic' dogs - taken just 10 mins after the incident! And you won't believe how bloodthirsty and vicious they can be to another smaller animal!

But again, maybe they know that rat is not a lovable type of animals.. ? :p And whatever it is they helped to kill it and spare Sri from being a huge rat murderer!!

What excitement we had! :p

Two Js and a New Stairway - a pictorial story!

Oh dear, oh dear! I just scrolled through my previous posts and realised I've not updated on my two Js for more than THREE months! How could I!? :(

This following pix were taken around a month ago.. I had wanted to post it but was so busy with my social life then that I had postponed it.. and almost forgotten about it...until now!

So... *drum rolls*... Jess' Two Js presents a pictorial story named: `The Two Js and a New Stairway', featuring (who else but) Jojo the Coward and Jelly the Dare Devil! Enjoy :p

Once upon a time, there lives two dogs - a larger one called Jojo and a smaller but fatter one named Jelly. They love to run around the garden when the weather is good. But just a week before Christmas last year, they noticed some strangers `invading' their garden, and they made lots of noise. There was also weird smell. But finally one day when all was quiet, they went to investigate the place where the noises came from.. lo and behold! There is a NEW stairway that leads all the way down to.. and they wonder where

The steps look steeper than all the steps in and outside the house they live. Both of them were apprehensive..

Then one fine day, their mommy tries to lead both of them down..

Jojo takes a look down and immediately retreats away.. looks like he has a fear of heights..

Jelly hoirway and it leads her to the `park' which they love to go from another stairway which is normally locked!wever, takes a step down, and then two, and then three.. hey, she discovers it is just another sta

She pauses at the half way landing, stops and looks up and is obviously pleased with herself.

She even dares to walk up the stairs herself.. she walks up and then down, no problem! But poor Jojo just stares enviously from up there faraway..

Meanwhile, Kak Sinur tries to use a leash and guide Jojo. But no, he is not cooperative at all.. He is so scared.. he refuses to move

But Jojo has a good sense of direction! He decides to go through the inside of the house and comes out through the bamboo garden that leads to the half way landing!

`Heyyy!! i am here!" he is ecstatic. "But errrr.. i can't go down, nor go up now.. how?" Jojo is stuck!

In no time, he is joined by Jelly who runs to where he is.

"Lets go down together ok?" suggests Jelly to Jojo.. but the latter is very very hesitant.

Jelly tries to pass some tips and secrets to Jojo who instead is getting more and more afraid!

"I can't believe you're such a coward!" is probably what Jelly is thinking and she decides not to wait for him anymore.

"How did you do that?" mumbles Jojo when Jelly walks down one step.
"Come on, just follow me and do it, it's easy peesy!" says a proud Jelly.

"Bye! I am going down.!" Jelly loses her patience and begins walking all the way down where her mommy is waiting, at the park.

When she reaches, she enjoys the cool earth and smells the grass (actually she is smelling her pee!) But she remembers something so she turns around and look up..

Brother Jojo is still standing there, and he just looks enviously at Jelly for another long long time until he turns around and goes back into the house via the way he comes..

Epilogue: Their mommy and other humans give up. Till today, Jojo still would not go down the stairway. Sinur manages to coax him going UP once but that's it.. And because Jojo weon't go near the stairway, Jelly also never uses it herself unless there are humans to play with her there...
